Guya rules ACCA tiff

Tyrone Guya of Nippon Life racked up four straight wins then survived a scare from Francisco Cabe in the last round to capture the elite Harmony section, even as Augustus Ata of Bayer Philippines lorded it over the Serenity section in the sixth leg of the 2001 Philippine Executive Active Chess Express (PEACE 2001) at the Land Bank Makati office.

The sixth leg saw the participation of Paul Moe, Norway’s ambassador to the Philippines, and the return of police senior inspector and lawyer Rommel Tacorda, who won a record five legs in one season of PEACE.

The one-day Swiss System event was sponsored by DNS Company and organized by the Active Chess Center of Asia (ACCA) in cooperation with Belgosa Media Systems, Land Bank, Travel Café, OMNI Business Center and Topmost Engineering.
