MANILA, Philippines — Isinara ng Germany ang Manila Leg ng 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) sa pamamagitan ng panalo.
Winalis ng mga Germans ang mga Iranians, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20, sa upakan ng dalawang sibak nang tropa sa pagtiklop ng three-week preliminary round kahapon sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.
Pumalo si Moritz Karlitzek ng 21 points mula sa 17 hits, dalawang blocks at dalawang service aces para sa 5-7 baraha ng Germany at tumapos sa 12th place sa 16-team VNL tournament.
Laglag naman ang Iran sa 2-10 para sa 15th place tampok ang mga panalo sa United States at Netherlands.
Minalas ang mga Germans at Iranians na makasama sa eight-team final round na idaraos sa Poland.
“We’re super happy that we finished the VNL this year for us with a victory and can go home with a good feeling,” sabi ng 6-foot-3 outside hitter na si Karlitzek.
Nag-ambag si Moritz Reichert ng 13 points para sa Germany na naglista ng 2-2 record sa Manila Leg.
Natalo sila sa Canada at USA, ngunit ginulantang ang reigning Olympic gold medalist France.
“Well, I can speak about the tournament here was perfectly organized. We felt really well and also playing in front of the crowd was amazing. The fans were all the time supporting us so we had a good time,” dagdag ni Karlitzek.
Sa ikalawang laro, tinalo ng reigning Olympic champions France ang Brazil, 25-23, 27-29, 13-25, 25-19, 18-16.
Swak ang mga Frenchmen sa Final Eight sa Lodz, Poland sa susunod na linggo bitbit ang 8-4 kartada.
