CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Criminal charges have been filed against a suspect in the killing of a 30-year-old woman whose body was found inside a refrigerator in Rodriguez, Rizal.
Charges of robbery with homicide were filed on Thursday before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor against a certain Dan Kenneth, whom police earlier tagged as a person of interest in the case.
Three witnesses identified Kenneth as the last person they saw with the woman before she was found dead in an apartment in Barangay San Jose on Sept. 16.
The body, which showed signs of strangulation, was found by the owner of the apartment when she went over to have the lease contract signed by the victim.
Aside from the testimonies of the witnesses, police retrieved video footage of closed-circuit television cameras installed near the crime scene and other parts of the barangay, showing the suspect leaving the area.
Police said Kenneth has a pending arrest warrant for a robbery case in Parañaque City in 2025, and had been tagged in the kidnapping of a Chinese national.
Lt. Col. Arwyn Gaffud, Rodriguez police chief, said the criminal complaint would be reviewed and evaluated by the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
A special investigation team composed of seven police officers has been tasked to look deeper into the case.
Police dispatched a tracker team to arrest the suspect, whom probers believe may be hiding in Metro Manila or nearby provinces.
