3 dead in Quezon road mishaps

SARIAYA, Quezon, Philippines – Three people including two minors died in separate vehicular accidents that occurred in Pitogo and this town on Tuesday.

The victim was declared dead on arrival at the Gumaca Hospital due to severe injuries.

Responding police officers arrested the driver, who reportedly lost control of the wheel.

Meanwhile, in Sariaya, a two-year-old boy died after he was hit by a utility vehicle in Barangay Sampaloc 2.

Reports said the minor was playing along the road when he was hit by a Toyota Hilux Tamaraw at around 2:30 p.m.

Police arrested the driver in a follow-up operation.

A few hours later, another minor was killed when a pick-up truck rearended a motorcycle with two people on board in the same barangay at around 7 p.m.

The motorcycle driver and the minor were thrown off their vehicle and landed on the pathway of a coming delivery van, which hit them.

The victims were rushed to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City, where the minor was declared dead on arrival.

The drivers of the pick-up truck and the delivery van were detained at the Sariaya police detention facility.
