MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has arrested 303 people in the PNP intensified drive against cybercriminals in the past three months.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the suspects were apprehended for cyber-related offenses, with 137 caught through sting operations, from April to June.
Nartatez said 38 victims were also rescued during the period.
“Combatting cybercrimes is not just about arresting violators. Prompt response, protection of victims and helping the public remain safe online are just as important,” Nartatez said in a statement.
He said the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group has conducted 6,845 cyber patrol operations against potential online threats, with at least 220 digital forensic examinations done as technical assistance to cyber-related cases.
Nartatez said the PNP continues to enhance the capabilities of its cybercrime units through partnerships with other government agencies and stakeholders.
