MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Liza Marcos on Tuesday led the turnover of 44 patient transport vehicles to local government units (LGUs) in Mindanao, boosting the region’s emergency medical response.
The distribution, held at the Libertad Sports Complex in Butuan City, was part of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)’s medical transport vehicle donation program and in compliance with President Marcos’ directive to bring essential healthcare services closer to grassroots communities.
PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles joined the First Lady during the event. He said the continuing fleet expansion reflects the charity agency’s commitment to translating gaming revenues into tangible health assets.
The vehicles were given to LGUs in Agusan, Basilan, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Davao, Dinagat Islands, Lanao, Maguindanao, Misamis, Sulu, Surigao, Tawi-Tawi and Zamboanga.
Earlier, the PCSO also distributed 13 patient transport vehicles in areas affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani.
