MANILA, Philippines — Three alleged suspects behind the murder and abduction of former Abuyog, Leyte vice mayor James Bohol and his son Carlo James were already arrested by the authorities.

The STAR reported that the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday night, June 30 in Pasay City.

Anti-Kidnapping Group Director PBGen. Edwin Balles said in a press briefing that the suspects admitted guilt for planning and committing the crimes.

“Inaamin nila na…sila ang gumawa nung krimen at inamin pa nila…mula sa kanilang sariling bibig ay pinagplanuhan nila,” Balles said.

(They admitted that they committed the crime, and they also revealed, from their own mouth, that they planned it.)

The suspects told the police that they struck the victims with a dumbbell until they lost consciousness and stabbed them multiple times before throwing away their bodies.

The police also confirmed that one of the suspects, who said he was the victims’ partner in their cooking oil business, confessed that he owed money from the ex-vice mayor and his son.

The Police Regional Office 8 earlier said that the family of the former vice mayor and his son positively identified the victims’ dead bodies recovered in Silago, Southern Leyte on Tuesday morning.

The abduction reportedly occurred on June 27 after both the father and his son failed to get home.
