BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Criminal charges have been filed against a man who killed a dog in Sadanga, Mountain Province last week.

Police said the case was first rejected twice by state prosecutors due to lack of evidence.

But the Sadanga police conducted a deeper investigation and gathered additional proof to ensure that all legal requirements are fully met to warrant the filing of the case.

The respondent was initially identified as a local government executive, but further investigation showed he was an aide of the official.

The suspect was caught on video beating up an American Pitbull Terrier with a piece of wood in Sadanga. He was charged for violating Republic Act 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act.
