MANILA, Philippines — An inspection train of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) got derailed after it was hit by a tanker truck carrying gasoline near the Paloyon Crossing in Nabua, Camarines Sur on Saturday.

According to a Department of Transportation (DOTr) statement, the inspection train was clearing the tracks from obstruction to give way to a passenger train bound for Legazpi City.

“The driver of the tanker truck was immediately brought to the Bicol Medical Center for treatment and is in stable condition. On the other hand, the PNR train operator was left unhurt,” the DOTr said.

Following the mishap, the PNR was forced to limit train trips only between Legazpi City and Polangui in Albay and between Calamba in Laguna to Sipocot in Camarines Sur.

The Naga-Legazpi route will be restored as soon as the tracks are repaired.
