SAN RAFAEL, Bulacan, Philippines — Breaking a Canadian record achieved in 2015, San Rafael town in Bulacan entered the Guinness World Records on Saturday for the “largest gathering of people dressed as angels.”
Mayor Mark Cholo Violago announced in the town’s Facebook page that San Rafael has officially set a new Guinness World Record, as he thanked over 2,000 people who participated in the event at the Victory coliseum.
“Nag-uumapaw po ang aking galak at pasasalamat sa mahigit 2,000 anghel na San Rafaeleños at sa lahat ng mga nakiisa sa kauna-unahang ‘Guinness World Records Attempt’ na ito sa kategoryang ‘Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Angels’ (My happiness is overflowing and I thank the more than 2,000 San Rafael angels and everyone else who participated in our first ‘Guinness World Records Attempt’ for this category),” Violago said.
The previous record for the category was established on Dec. 1, 2015 in Winnipeg, Canada. It was organized by the Misericordia Health Center Foundation of Canada.
Kazuyoshi Kirimura, Guinness World Records adjudicator, announced that the Canadian record for the “Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Angels” was surpassed by the Bulacan event.
Kirimura handed the Guinness World Records certificate to Violago over the weekend.
Sen. Imee Marcos was in San Rafael to witness the event.
