MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) started accepting applications yesterday for special permits for public utility vehicles (PUVs) in anticipation of a surge in commuters during the holidays.
LTFRB Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III said the special permits are valid from Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, 2025.
Up to 5,000 slots will be available for Transport Network Vehicle Services or TNVS, Guadiz said.
He advised commuters to plan their trips ahead amid the expected increase of vehicles in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
Guadiz said the public should remain vigilant to ensure a safe and smooth travel.
“Please patronize legitimate public transportation, follow safety protocols and report any overcharging, overloading or other violations through our official hotlines and channels,” he said.
The LTFRB is coordinating with transport operators and traffic enforcers to manage the expected increase in passengers during the Christmas season.
