MANILA, Philippines — One person died and another was injured when a fire broke out at a residential neighborhood in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig at dawn yesterday.
In a report, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said at least 60 families were displaced by the fire.
Authorities said they have yet to identify the 19-year-old fatality whose remains were recovered in one of the burned houses.
A 17-year-old man suffered a laceration in his left foot.
The BFP said the fire started at 3:47 a.m. along Acacia street and reached second alarm before it was declared under control at 5:49 a.m.
Firefighters doused the flames at 6:23 a.m. Damage to property was placed at P1 million.
Fifty firetrucks, including 13 from the BFP and 37 from volunteer groups and local government units, responded to the scene.
Arson probers said they are still investigating the cause of the fire.
