MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested an alleged high-value drug suspect who yielded over P30 million worth of shabu and cocaine in Taguig City on Saturday.

The suspect, identified only as alias Jhovel, 34, is included in the drug watchlist, the Southern Police District (SPD) said in a report.

Jhovel was collared in an anti-narcotics operation in Barangay Western Bicutan, which resulted in the confiscation of at least 4.5 kilos of shabu valued at P30.6 million and 6.9 grams of cocaine amounting to P36,000.

“This operation highlights our commitment to maintaining safe, drug-free communities. The dedication and teamwork of our law enforcement units are crucial in dismantling illegal drug networks,” SPD chief Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang said.

“We will continue these efforts to protect our neighborhoods from illegal drugs,” he added.

Charges of violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act will be filed against the suspect, according to Yang.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the suspect is in the custody of the Taguig police station.

“This successful operation in Taguig manifests our firm resolve to protect our communities from the effects of illegal drugs. We will continue to take decisive steps to dismantle drug networks in Metro Manila,” NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Sidney Hernia said in a statement.

Police said they are conducting follow-up investigation to “uncover the source of this substantial drug haul.”
