MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Makati on Friday donated P250,000 in cash to the municipal government of Lupon in Davao Oriental, which was affected by heavy rains and floods earlier this year.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay personally handed over the check to Lupon municipal treasurer Mary Jane Mantos and budget officer Elizabeth Solidaga at the city hall.

On Wednesday, the city government donated P500,000 in cash to the municipal government of Kapalong in Davao del Norte, which was also affected by heavy rains and floods.

Binay expressed hope that the financial support would bring relief and comfort to the affected communities.

Earlier this month, Makati also donated P1 million in cash to the local government of Davao de Oro. Makati is also set to give financial assistance to the disaster-stricken municipality of Caraga in Davao Oriental.
