MANILA, Philippines — Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo yesterday directed Court Administrator Raul Villanueva to look into reports of a Pasay City regional trial court (RTC) employee who allegedly accepted a P6-million bribe.

In a statement, the SC public information office (PIO) said the Office of the Chief Justice received a preliminary report from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) about the arrest of an employee of the Pasay RTC for allegedly accepting P6 million from a litigant in exchange for “a favorable judgment” in a civil case.

The employee allegedly said that the exchange was upon the instruction of a presiding judge, the SC PIO added.

Gesmundo has given the Office of the Court Administrator (OCA) until May 27 to submit a report and a recommendation.

The SC did not disclose the names of the employee and the judge pending the investigation and recommendation of the OCA.
