DAVAO CITY, Philippines — After two months of assuming the post as Davao City police chief, Col. Richard Bad-ang was relieved from his post yesterday in connection with the death of seven drug suspects in March.

The relief of Bad-ang was ordered by the Davao regional police office.

The killings occurred during police operations conducted from March 23 to 26, or reportedly after Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte declared a war on drugs.

Maj. Catherine dela Rey, spokesperon for the Davao region police, said the relief of Bad-ang was based on a recommendation of Brig. Gen. Aligre Martinez, chief of the regional police internal affairs service,  pending results of ongoing investigations into the killings.

Bad-ang was transferred to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit. He was replaced by Col. Rolindo Suguilon, deputy regional director for operations, as officer-in-charge of the Davao City police.
