MANILA, Philippines — The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced yesterday the designation of Lt. Gen. Fernando Reyeg as the new commander of the Visayas Command (VISCOM).

Reyeg assumed the post following a turnover and donning of ranks ceremony. He replaced Commodore Oscar Canlas Jr.

Reyeg, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1991, had served as deputy chief of staff for operations.

AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. welcomed Reyeg and urged him to build on the achievements and accomplishments of his predecessor.

Brawner acknowledged Canlas for his ”dedication and strategic vision” in fortifying VISCOM.

“Continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and honor,” Brawner said. ”Together, we will face the future with courage, resolve and with the unshakable belief that the Visayas Command will always be a force to be reckoned with.”
