MANILA, Philippines — A tanker loaded with coconut oil crashed into a post of the Skyway along Osmeña Highway in Pasay City yesterday morning.
The accident occurred near the Philippine State College of Aeronautics at around 7 a.m., according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
The spilled coconut oil made the road slippery and caused accidents among motorcycle riders, according to earlier reports.
The MMDA said it sent traffic enforcers to manage the flow of vehicles and a tow truck to remove the tanker. The road was cleared before noon.
The Skyway management took charge of handling the oil spill and the resulting accidents, according to the MMDA.
“That is their area. We just sent a tow truck filled with sawdust” to absorb the oil spill, the MMDA said.
