ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - Former kidnap victim Mayor Gemma Adana filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) Friday, barely four days after she was freed by her Abu Sayyaf captors in Sulu.

Adana, who is an outgoing mayor of Naga town in Zamboanga Sibugay, will run as vice mayor, according to Senior Inspector Junar Vale Jorge, Naga town police chief.

Jorge said Adana was accompanied by Zamboanga Sibugay Gov. Walter Palma during her COC filing at the municipal office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The mayor, who was forcibly abducted last April 7 inside her residence at Barangay Taytay Manubo, was freed by the Abu Sayyaf group in Indanan town, Sulu last October 13.
