MANILA, Philippines — The National Housing Authority (NHA) on Wednesday announced it would be awarding free house and lot units to the bereaved families of the fallen 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos who were killed in the Mamasapano clash.

NHA general manager Froilan Campitan said the decision to award the housing units was made by the agency last February 6 in a board resolution.

Campitan said the awarding of the house and lot units would later be expanded to SAF commandos who were wounded in the Mamasapano clash.

"Pinagtibay po namin ang isang resolusyon na magkakarooon po ng pabahay hindi lang po yung mga namatay kundi pati po yung nga wounded na worth P300k house and lot,” he said.

Campitan said the house to be built will be at least 33 square meters in floor area with the lot to be at least 70 square meters. The two-story houses will be in a single-detached configuration.

"Ang housing assistance ay nas aporma  ng house and lot, pwedeng bahay lang kung kayo ay may lote na, o kung wala namang lote ay  ay maaring pabili ng lote or pwede din hong pagawa ng bahay,” said Campitan.

Campitan said the houses could include a loft and could accommodate two rooms.

"Meron pong maaring dalawang kwarto. Yan po ay ating specs detail. All inclusive po yung P300,000. Magkakaroon pa tayo ng isang pagpupulong para sa mismong detalye nung package. Sabi nga ni Vice [Vice President Binay] gaganda ang buhay basta may bahay,” he said.
