BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – President Aquino is set to visit Negros Occidental at the end of this month to inaugurate three projects of the provincial government worth P751.6 million.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the President has accepted his invitation to lead the inauguration of the projects.
Members of the Presidential Management Staff were in the province last week to arrange Aquino’s visit.
The projects include a P630-million information technology (IT) building here; a P55.1-million rice processing center in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, and a P66.5-million school building of the Negros Occidental High School, also in this city.
The provincial government said the IT center was meant to generate jobs for the Negrenses, noting the opportunities offered by the business process outsourcing sector.
The rice processing center was built through a partnership between the Department of Agriculture and the provincial government. It is capable of milling 10 tons of rice per hour and is projected to improve rice production and reduce post-harvest losses.
Meanwhile, the construction of the classroom building was prompted by a request from school principal Mario Amaca and an agreement between the Department of Education and the provincial government.
