American fugitive to be extradited

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation is set to extradite an American fugitive arrested last week, who allegedly hid in the country several months after he murdered his Filipina wife before burying her remains in their former backyard in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In an interview with reporters at the NBI headquarters in Manila yesterday, NBI Central Luzon regional director lawyer Ric Diaz said they arrested on May 5, Hugh Cave, 53-years-old, who is facing murder charges in the United States for the slay of his Filipina wife, Gloria Cave.

“Hugh is now under the process of extradition in the Philippines and is expected to be returning to face his crime in Las Vegas, Nevada shortly,” Diaz said. He said Hugh was arrested in the house of his wife’s relatives in Sabang Village, Morong, Bataan.

Diaz said that Gloria was last seen alive on November 2010 by his friends in Las Vegas during Thanksgiving Day.

Diaz said Hugh flew in the country last February to inform Gloria’s relatives that the victim died in a car accident. As a supposed proof of the victim’s death, Hugh allegedly gave the urn containing the ashes of the remains of Gloria to her family.

Nasunog daw yung katawan nung biktima nung nasunog yung kotse pagkatapos nung aksidente kaya nagdecide yung foreign national na i-cremate na lang yung remains ni Gloria,” Diaz said.

On April 23, Fe Rawson-Oseo, the woman who bought the house of Hugh in the United States before the latter flew to the Philippines, discovered the remains of Gloria while moving a backyard planter.

Rawson-Oseo reported the incident to the Las Vegas Police after discovering the remains of Gloria, said Diaz.
