MANILA, Philippines - A bus driver is facing multiple charges after he was arrested for allegedly abandoning a motorcycle driver and his rider, who were critically injured during an accident in Quezon City yesterday.
The mishap happened at past 5 a.m. yesterday along Quezon Avenue, said Superintendent Ely Pintang, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.
Pintang said Rico Enciso, the driver of the motorcycle, and the still unidentified female rider, were severely injured after being thrown from the motorcycle. Both remain unconscious, Pintang said.
According to Pintang, bus driver Andy Seret Dialogo was arrested during follow-up operations.
Pintang said Dialogo was driving a bus of EPJ.
Chief Inspector Enrico Figueroa, head of QCPD Traffic Sector 4, said both vehicles were moving along Quezon Avenue when the bus sideswiped the motorcycle driven by Enciso.
After the both victims were thrown from the motorcycle, the bus driver allegedly sped off, leaving them behind.
Figueroa said a witness managed to take note of the license plate number of the bus (UYD-808), leading to the identification and arrest of the bus driver.
Pintang said the bus driver is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and abandonment of his victims.
