MANILA, Philippines - To promote the registration of voters, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will hold a satellite registration for Manila voters at the Rizal Park today.
Comelec Commissioner Grace Padaca said persons with disability and senior citizens will be prioritized at the onsite registration at the Rizal monument but all Manila voters are welcome.
“Residents of Manila, come to (Rizal Park) to register, validate or have your biometrics taken. Transfer, reactivate and correct or update your registration,†she said.
The registration booth for senior citizens is situated beside the artists’ haven.
The activity also culminates the first leg of “Walkah Walkah,†the walkathon that was designed to encourage voters to sign up for the 2016 polls.
Led by Comelec spokesman James Jimenez, the participants in the walkathon walked from Laoag City starting May 6, when the 17- month voter’s registration began.
The second leg of Walkah Walkah will be from Rizal Park to Sorsogon on June 15.
