CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City council will approve a proposed resolution today to express condolences to the family of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and at the same time commend him for exemplary performance.
In behalf of the officials and people of the city, the council extends its condolence for the passing away of Secretary Robredo, Councilor Diosdado Suico, in a draft resolution, said.
Suico, the majority floor leader, said the whole nation mourns the death of a “man for others” who raised the level of public service to a higher level.
But Suico said although Robredo is gone, his memories especially his legacy will remain forever.
Suico was specifically referring to the Performance Governance System (PGS) being implemented in Mandaue in partnership with Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) in which Robredo is an adviser and whose city is a model.
Robredo during his incumbency in Naga City successfully implemented the PGS.
As a result, he received the Ramon Magsaysay Award on good governance, the first for a Filipino city mayor.
On the other hand, DILG OIC city director Jhoaden Lucero expressed confidence the “Seal of Good Housekeeping” award started by Robredo will be continued.
Robredo institutionalized the award as a way of promoting good governance wherein the main criteria includes, among others, full disclosure policy, transparency, and positive evaluation by the Commission on Audit.
Lucero said Mandaue has passed the initiation stage of the “Seal of Good Housekeeping” and had received a cash award of P25 million and will receive P3 million more. – THE FREEMAN
