MANILA, Philippines - It’s all systems go for the weeklong celebration of Vigan City’s Raniag Festival on Oct. 25-31.
Mayor Eva Marie Singson-Medina said Raniag (radiance) is Vigan’s “twilight festival” where most of the activities are scheduled between 5 to 8 p.m.
A candle floating ceremony and acoustic competition will be held on Oct. 25 at the Vigan River Cruise Dock, followed by the flight of sky lanterns on Oct. 26 and dinner concert for a cause at the Vigan Convention Center.
Lighting of the giant Christmas tree and display at the Vigan City Hall is scheduled at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27, followed by street dancing at 7 p.m. around the city proper and the GMA Kapuso Night.
A parade will be held Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. while the world costume competition is set for 6 p.m. on Oct. 29 followed by a Zumba dance party on Crisologo Street.
The Zombie Outrun season 2 is scheduled Oct. 31 at 5 p.m. in front of the provincial capitol as a pre-celebration of All Saints’ Day.
Vigan City is now on the final 14 list for the New 7 Wonders Cities of the World. The seven winners will be announced on Dec. 7.
