The Maya Kitchen turns Greek

MANILA, Philippines - Have a Greek gastronomical experience as The Maya Kitchen features Cyma Greek Taverna on Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Executive chef Robby Goco will demonstrate garides saganaki (pasta), spanakopita (spinach pie), kotopoulo avgolemono (chicken congee), horiatiki salata (summer salad in red wine vinaigrette), baklava (layered phyllo with nuts and orange honey syrup) and meatless moussaka (layered seasoned green lentils with Béchamel sauce).

Cyma Greek Taverna offers a wide selection of local and regional Greek and Mediterranean food and wine in its branches at Greenbelt 2, Eastwood City, Alabang Town Center, Shangri-La Mall, Trinoma, Cebu and Boracay.

For its Lifestyle Essential Series, The Maya Kitchen offers the following courses inclusive of workshops: Junior Weekend Chef for kids, 6-10 years old, August 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Bridal Fondant Cakes and Cupcakes, Aug. 13, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; International Cooking, Aug. 13, 1 to 6 p.m.; Home Bar Entertaining, Aug. 20, 1 to 7 p.m.; and Coffee 101, Aug. 27, 1 to 6 p.m.

Certificate Courses include: Basic Culinary, Aug. 2 to 5 and 23 to 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Fundamentals of Bakery Production, Aug. 9 to12, Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Restaurant Operation, Aug. 16 to 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Basic Cake Decorating, Aug. 18 to 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Barista with on-the-job training on Aug. 27, 1 to 6 p.m.

TESDA-registered course Breads and Pastry Production NCII, 250 hours inclusive of lecture and on-the-job training starts on Aug. 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
