No need to beware the Ides of March as two Piscean ladies celebrated their natal days in the company of those they enjoy being with. The Zodiac states that those born under this astrological sign are friendly, good-natured, kind, imaginative, affectionate and popular — the very traits that one sees in Allana Montelibano and Lilibeth Campos.
Though they had separate celebrations, music played an important role in their birthday dinners.
Effervescent Allana made sure she was not only surrounded by her favorite family members, but also had her Visayan childhood pals as well as her Manila social and business associates in attendance. A sing-along was the after-dinner attraction because majority of the guests were musically talented. Singing for one’s supper seemed to be a breeze for the invitees.
Lovely Lilibeth turned into a super young looking seniorella. With a psychedelic theme, it was time for mini skirts, hot pants, crazy prints and bell bottoms in blaring neon colors that were paired with go-go boots or platform shoes. The ladies’ big hair (held by lots of hair spray) with thick eye makeup and false lashes were once again de rigueur while the men donned Beatle-style wigs or wild Afro hair that made us realize that fashion is a cycle — what is out is in.
Highlight of the evening was the awarding of the most authentic well-dressed couple that was won by Marivic Vasquez in a chic black mini skirt and an original ‘70s silver belt, and Dixie Mabanta who looked almost like John Travolta Senior complete with silver platform shoes and a shiny NikNik shirt. They received Elizabeth C accessories that Lilibeth designs and manufactures.
The celebrant’s Assumption High School Class of 1971 arrived in full force to show that they could all dance to the hit songs of their disco era that promoted the Mod culture of “peace, love and freedom.â€
