Tales from the Orient

Start the year right with style.

Recently, fashion designer Louis Claparols unveiled his Spring-Summer 2013 collection titled “Tale of the Black Rose” at Privé in Bonifacio Global City. He took his inspiration from a story of a woman from China during the Ming dynasty who was waiting for her husband to return from the war but she ended up brokenhearted.

Louis’ overall theme for his collection revolves around modernizing the classic cheongsam. The statement is a combination of three global trends for Spring-Summer 2013 namely, sporty, Oriental and sheer. Sexy, sporty and feminine is the chic see-through in a fusion of black, fuchsia and nude. Subtle seduction reigns with loads of sheer stretch mesh, lame, jersey and cotton piqué.  Adding up to the feel is the patchwork detailing of heavy embroidery and lace mixed with doses of ‘70s prints. The designer steps up as his latest collection presents in full regalia an Orient express of various up-to-date creations as seen in gowns, dresses and separates. A contemporary and interesting showcase of design, which takes pride in heritage as Orientalia, makes a trendsetting comeback in mainstream fashion.
