NEW DELHI, India — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. arrived in India on Monday afternoon, August 4 to begin his first state visit to the country.
Upon landing at the Palam Air Force Station in New Delhi, he was welcomed in a ceremony. He was received by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar who briefed Marcos on details of his visit.
President Marcos and wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, were welcomed by India's Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Pabitra Margherita, Indian Ambassador to the Philippines Harsh Kumar Jain and other Indian goverment officials.

The president then proceeded to a scheduled meeting with the Filipino community in the capital.
India has a relatively small overseas Filipino population compared to other Asian countries.
The government estimated 3,145 Filipinos living in India, 20% of whom are migrant workers. The rest are spouses of Indian nationals
