After months of elimination and a grand final held recently at Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall, new dance champs were named.
Jonathan Balingit and the dance duo of Hans Christian Ditol and Rocky Mar Cacino, all from SM North EDSA were this year’s champs in World of Fun’s Pump It Up Challenge. Balingit won the speed competition and the pair of Ditol and Cacino grabbed the freestyle competition grand plum.
The dance idols showcased their dancing prowess in the Pump It Up dance machines. Their routines were energetic and well-synchronized.
The judges had a hard time choosing who would take home this year’s titles as kings of the Pump It Up. Thirty dancers competed. Pump It Up fans from all the metro were also present to cheer their idols.
Freestyle had dance pairs showing choreographed moves on NX Pump It Up. In speed, individuals showed how fast they could groove. Contestants had two dance routines prepared — their elimination dance piece and the Magic 3 showdown number for the winners. Criteria for the speed category included machine score, dance moves, costume and mass appeal. For freestyle, contestants were judged on machine score, choreography, creativity, timing, presentation, costume and mass appeal.
Second placer in the speed competition was Dominador Mepranum of Sta. Lucia while third placer was Riddick Lee of Robinsons Iloilo. In the freestyle competition, second prize went to Prosper Fesalbon and Mark Joby Musa of SM Megamall, third placers were Sean Mithcel Oquendo and Christopher Bermudez of KCC Gensan.
