CEBU, Philippines - Two new categories including the 21K have been added in the Hunat Sugbu 2-Dagang Para ni Maning slated on June 24 at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu. The annual charity run is being staged in memory of the Manuel Go Ting, the late president of Cebu Parklane International Hotel.
"We are running for a reason. We want to remember him (MGT) how he tried to lead a healthy lifestyle. He's the one who inspired and influenced us in spearheading this activity," said Parklane general manager Cen Manguilimotan in a press conference yesterday.
Also present were Basil Ting, a member of the hotel's board of directors, security manager Nick Nacorada, Walk and Talk president Atty. Alex Monteclar, marketing and communications officer Barbie Patino and race director Joel Baring of the Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE).
Aside from the 21K, the other race lengths include the 3K, 6K and 12K.
"With the overwhelming success of last year's Hunat Sugbu, we once again adhere to the public's cracing for the usual fun run," said Parklane assistant marketing and communications officer Tara Merced.
The organizers are expecting 2,000 fitness buffs to take part in the event for a worthy cause.
"We're hoping to raise funds for our medical mission in the first week of July. Hopefully more runners will be joining," said Manguilimotan.
Registration fee is pegged at P250 for the 3K, P350 for the 6K and 12K and P500 for the 21K inclusive of a dri-fit shirt and a sumptuous breakfast at the finish line.
A total of P50,000 in cash prize is up for grabs for the winners in different divisions. Specially crafted medals by Suarez Brothers will be given away to the 21K finishers, while Parklane will be raffling off gift certificates at the end of the race. (FREEMAN)
