CEBU, Philippines - Noted local darts official Bert Colong Jr. finally found time to focus on his game and swiftly made an impact by dominating the initial salvo of the 2009 Mayor Tomas Osmeña and Vice Mayor Mike Rama Open Inter-Barangay Dartfest at Baseline Sports and Recreation Center.
Colong, who is usually the one attending the needs of participants, officials, guests and some spectators in most events organized by the Cebu City Hall Employees Darts Association (CHEDA) and other clubs, managed to allocate more playing time in an effort to showcase his skills anew.
Colong and Rayden Colina hurdled one game after the other until they reached the final where they subdued the tandem of Odong Pamatian and Arvic Recaña to clinch the crown.
Arnel Guba and Alvin Villa grabbed the third place honors after edging out Jomar Amerol and Jerous Ponce.
Aside from the open doubles, the tournament also features the classified four-man team category and another doubles for the youth, which will start on October 10.
Participants are expected to pour in when the event goes full blast since the registration is free. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN NEWS)
