CEBU, Philippines - Electrification and road concreting will be among the priority projects of Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas if he gets elected as representative of the first district next year.
Samsam, grandson of first district Rep. Eduardo Gullas, has started visiting the barangays and found out that there are some sitios that do not have electricity yet. The roads of these areas also needed to be concreted.
Aside from electrification and road projects, he will also give priority to providing water to his constituents as some of them still lack access to potable water supply.
He also plans to build a sports coliseum as he wants sports development in his district.
Samsam is scheduled to file his certificate of candidacy on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 10:45 a.m. This day is also the birthday of his grandmother, wife of Eduardo, Norma “Mingming” Selma Gullas.
He will be accompanied by the mayors, vice mayors, councilors and barangay captains of the first district in going to the Provincial Commission on Elections Office.
But prior to the filing, he and the Gullas family will hear mass at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Barangay Guadalupe. So far, Samsam, 27, has no clear opponent but he said, he still needs to work hard. He admitted that at first, he felt pressured when he was asked to replace his grandfather.
But with the warm reception of the mayors, barangay captains and the people, Samsam said, he learned to love what he is doing and promised to do his best to continue the legacy of his grandfather. (FREEMAN)
