CEBU, Philippines - A woman was killed after she met a vehicular accident in Barangay Palanas, Alcantara on Wednesday while a laborer is in critical condition after he was shot by his neighbor in Danao City.
In Barangay Palanas, Teresita Pulgo, 31, of Barangay Candabong died on the spot after she was dragged by a Ceres bus at about 3:00 in the afternoon.
Pulgo did not make it alive to the Badian District Hospital where she was taken due to a crack on her head and a major fracture on her body.
PO1 Lendy Villagonzalo said that Pulgo was on board a Skygo motorcycle bearing GI-4525 driven by his friend Raquel Ambalante, of Barangay Tawig.
Villagonzalo said the two were heading to Barangay Poblacion from Barangay Libo-o.
When the victims reached a curve in the road they failed to notice the presence of the bus with plate number GWY-493 driven by Danilo Solon of Barangay Banilad, Cebu City. The bus was traveling on the opposite direction.
Villagonzalo said the bus hit the back of the motorcycle so the victims were thrown off the motorcycle. Pulgo’s leg was reportedly dragged by the rear right tire of the bus. Ambalante was thrown away to a grassy area along the road.
“Nabagnos iyang ulo kay nadagit man siya unya grabe iyang samad sa lawas,” he said.
Solon was arrested by the police. Ambalante was taken to the Badian District Hospital and was released a few hours later.
Pulgo’s remains lies at the St. Jude Funeral Homes.
The policeman said they still do not have any idea if the parties will settle the matter or pursue the filing of a complainant.
In a separate incident, a laborer is in a critical condition due to three gunshot wounds after he was shot by his neighbor in Sitio Maghilaw, Barangay Masaba, Danao City.
Jerry Tocal, 26, was taken to the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center as referred by the Danao City District Hospital.
Tocal had wounds on his back, right eyebrow and pelvic area after he was shot by Joseph Lacno using an unknown caliber of firearm.
SPO2 Edgar Gomez said that Tocal was walking home with his friend Wilson Matugas without knowing that Lacno was tailing them.
As they reached a dark portion of the road, Lacno allegedly fired his gun several times hitting only Tocal. The suspect then escaped.
Police said they failed to recover any slug or empty shell.
Gomez said that they have yet to determine the motive of the incident while a hot pursuit operation against Lacno is being conducted. (FREEMAN)
