CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday appointed Provincial Board Member Wilfredo Caminero as head of the Task Force Dengue in the province.
Caminero’s appointment came as Capitol is taking steps for an all-out war against dengue amid the rising cases of the disease.
“As the head of this task force, I am honored and privileged to be appointed by the governor. I know she is eyeing on my experience as the head of the Task Force Dengue in Talisay City when I was still a councilor,” he told The FREEMAN.
A former councilor of Talisay City, Caminero still heads the city’s Task Force Dengue as requested by Mayor Soc Fernandez.
He admitted that the city ranks fourth in areas with having the highest number of dengue cases in Central Visayas.
Garcia also announced yesterday that the province is buying chemicals and blowers worth P1 million to combat dengue.
The two ways in preventing the spread of dengue mosquitoes are to kill the adult mosquitoes and the larvae.
Caminero said that fogging is not allowed by the World Health Organization and the Department Of Health since aside from not being environment-friendly, it will not kill mosquitoes as it will only drives themaway. (THE FREEMAN)
