DepEd reg’l directors ordered not to delay mobile teachers’ salary

The leadership of the Department of Education has ordered all its regional directors not to delay the release of salaries and allowances of mobile teachers.

Carolina Guerero, director of the Department of Education Alternative Learning System, recently made a statement appealing to all regional directors to immediately release the salaries and financial incentives of mobile teachers.

This after the department received several complaints of the delay in the release of the funds, causing some of the mobile teachers to turn to loan sharks.

But Sinfronio Thelmo, education supervisor of DepEd-7, told The Freeman that since the program’s implementation in 1998, they encountered no problem on the delay in the release of salaries and other financial incentives to mobile teachers in Region VII.

He, however, admitted that some payrolls for traveling allowances were submitted beyond the cut off time for the end of the year, that’s why several mobile teachers had not received the money last December.

“Naay uban nga naabtan na sa year end but it is already processed by the accounting for allocation,” Thelmo said.

There are over 155 mobile teachers in Central Visayas who are teaching out-of-school youths and school dropouts in depressed areas in the region.  — Ferliza C. Contrastista/LPM
