Five adults, five minors in 'rugby party' arrested

What supposed to be a Christmas party for young adults led to the arrest of 10 persons, five of whom are minors, from whom the Talisay City Police recovered plastic bags with commercial adhesive (rugby) residue, another bottle with half-liter of same volatile substance, and P85 cash at a house on Colis Street in barangay Tabunok last Monday night.

Police inspector Ricardo Nayne said they arrested the 10 persons, including the owner of the house identified as one Avelino Nacario, 49, during the conduct of a saturation drive in the area at about 10:15 the other night.

The five minors arrested were aged 12 to 16. Also arrested were Jonas Lapina, 18; Rovin Menguito and John Michael Lopez, both 19; and 22-year-old Jonavel Lopez.

The arrest came after the police saw a placard posted outside of the house of Nacario, which read "Christmas Party: Exclusive for rugby boys."

Those arrested are now detained at the Talisay City Police station while charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1619 or illegal possession of volatile substance are now prepared by policemen. Nacario will also be charged for maintaining a drug den. - Garry B. Lao
