A feel-good, light romance for Richard-KC team-up

Certified Kapuso star Richard Gutierrez has set foot for the first time on “alien” (not enemy) territory when he attended the story conference of the movie that he and KC Concepcion are doing for Star Cinema. The said event was also attended by Joyce Bernal, who will direct the project.

The TV crew of several ABS-CBN entertainment programs captured on video the arrival of KC and Richard on the 13th floor of the ELJ Building on the ABS-CBN compound. The two granted interviews before they were ushered to the room where the story conference was held. In another room, a makeup artist was waiting to “beautify” Richard and KC since they will be having a pictorial—their debut pictorial actually as a tandem for the still untitled film project.

Richard’s sister, Ruffa Gutierrez, did an interview with the two for The Buzz that will be aired this Sunday. According to our source, Ruffa was kinilikig on the idea that her popular is doing a movie with the precious firstborn of Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Earlier that day, KC just came from Marawi where she attended a feeding program as part of her work as UN Ambassador against Hunger, while Richard just came back from Dubai where he taped some scenes for his new GMA soap opera “Codename: Asero.”

According to our source who refuses to be identified, the Richard-KC project is a feel-good light romance written by Vanessa Valdez who wrote the script of “One More Chance” and “A Love Story.” The script has to be finalized since KC is scheduled to have her first shooting day on May 28.

KC will start working on her scenes first since Richard has to do advanced tapings for “Codename: Asero” that will premiere this June. He has to make sure that he has enough episodes on the can since he and KC are going on location in Greece.

Thru this column, we’d like to thank the stars and directors who attended the Nominees’ Night of the 5th Golden Screen Awards held last Tuesday night at The Library Comedy Bar in Malate. They braved the heavy downpour and the traffic. Although the start of the event was delayed a bit, it was a modest success nonetheless.

Among those who graced the event were best actress nominees Glaiza de Castro (Still Life) and Ina Feleo (Endo), best actor nominee Sid Lucero (Selda) with his mom Bing Pimentel, male breakthrough performance nominees Victor Basa (Maling Akala) and Joem Bascom (Batanes), best supporting actor nominee Ricky Davao, and female breakthrough performer nominee Katrina “Hopia” Legaspi (Prinsesa).

We also would like to thank Raymond Lee, one of the producers of “Endo,” who braved the traffic just to be at The Library to accept the certificates of nominations garnered by the stars and production staff of “Endo.”

Also making it to the affair was newbie film director Bong Romas who was elated with the good number of nominations garnered by their small film titled “Haw-Ang.”

Adolfo Alix, Jr., who got also a Best Director nomination for “Kadin,” sent a representative to receive the certificates of nomination of his stars and production staff for “Kadin.”

We’d like to give special thanks to Philippine Idol finalist Reymond Sajor (who was the very first performer to arrive), Say Alonzo, Jake Cuenca, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Angelika dela Cruz, Glaiza de Castro, Stef Prescot , Jordan Aguilar,  and Voyz Avenue (who sang the theme song  of Kamandag).

The venue and date of the 5th Golden Screen Awards will be announced soon.

Can’t get enough of Troy, Gabriella and the rest of the “High School Musical” gang? Catch the Philippine television premiere of “High School Musical” on Studio 23 this Saturday and Sunday (May 24 and 25) at 7:30 PM.

Reminisce how the story all began for East High Wildcats star player Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and math wiz Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens) in the first installment “High School Musical.”

Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) is best known as the team captain and star player who keeps the East High basketball team on the scoreboard while brainy Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) is raising the reputation of East High as the key member of the school’s successful academic team. No one would ever peg them as theater types thus, when word gets out that this popular pair has secretly chosen to reach for the stars and try their luck on the stage, the students are about to learn an important lesson in teamwork while gearing up for a musical performance that will have their audience dancing in the aisles.

Meanwhile, the fun, love, excitement, and the music continue on “High School Musical 2” as the whole gang goes through a summer experience they will never forget, especially Troy who has to choose between his future (through a scholarship) and his one true love.

“High School Musical” airs May 24 (Saturday), 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM and “High School Musical 2” airs May 25 (Sunday), 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM, on Studio 23, before “Us Girls,” which airs at a special time to give way to the special.
