2 Maynilad facilities recertified

MANILA, Philippines - Two water treatment facilities of West Zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. has passed the recertification for Integrated Management System (IMS) by a third party certifying body, the company announced yesterday.

Maynilad said third party certifier TUV SUD PSB Philippines, Inc. has recommended the recertification of its La Mesa Treatment Plants 1 and 2 in Quezon City and the Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant in Manila for another three years for the following standards: Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2008), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2004) and Occupational Health and Safety Management System (BS OHSAS 18001:2007).

 “Passing the surveillance audit of certifying body TUV SUD goes to show that our La Mesa Treatment Plants 1 and 2 and Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant provide world-class service to our customers, in keeping with our goal to become the leading water solutions company in the country,” said Ricky P. Vargas, Maynilad president and CEO.

Maynilad’s La Mesa Treatment Plants 1 and 2 can produce up to 2,640 million liters of potable water a day for its eight million customers. The Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant other the other hand, has a treatment capacity of 432,000 cubic meters of wastewater per day, conveyed by over 343,500 meters of sewer lines and six lift stations in Paco, Malate, Luneta, Legarda, Port Area and Sta. Cruz in Manila.

Other Maynilad facilities that have triple ISO certifications are the Dagat-Dagatan Sewage and Septage Treatment Plant, North Caloocan Business Area and Water Network including its accompanying pipelines and seven pumping stations.

Maynilad is the concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the West Zone of the Greater Manila Area which is composed of the cities of Manila (all but portions of San Andres and Sta Ana), Quezon City (west of San Juan River, West Avenue, EDSA, Congressional, Mindanao Avenue, the northern part starting from the districts of the Holy Spirit and Batasan Hills), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Paranaque, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite Province.
