CEBU, Philippines - Not only will Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN Philippines, the annual running and planting event initiated by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), take place in Cebu, it will also happen in Davao del Sur Province and Tagum City in Davao del Norte on June 29.
Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN Philippines provides a venue for every local government unit in Cebu and participating provinces in other regions to participate in forest development activities in order to expand and enhance the country’s forest cover through planting native trees.
The provincial government of Davao del Sur will mobilize its 15 municipalities and 14 member-schools of Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines in the area.
Native tree seedlings will be provided by Hedcor and Therma South Inc.
This initiative of RAFI is under its Integrated Development unit Generation REdemption, and Expansion of Natural resources INitiatives in the Philippines (GREENIN) Program to ensure environmental sustainability by reversing the loss of environmental resources through the utilization of native tree species in its interventions in restoring and rehabilitating degraded forests and idle lands.
GREENIN Philippines is one of the programs under RAFI’s Integrated Development focus area. It aims to address environmental problems by undertaking initiatives for the protection, conservation, and rehabilitation of our country’s forests. RAFI’s other focus areas are Micro-finance & Entrepreneurship, Culture & Heritage, Leadership & Citizenship, and Education.
