MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has expanded the coverage of its medical transport distribution program after turning over 18 patient transport vehicles (PTVs) to 10 provinces in the Visayas.
The turnover ceremony, held in Cebu City yesterday was part of PCSO’s Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program and in line with the government’s universal health care agenda.
PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles said the initiative reflects the agency’s core mandate of converting gaming revenues into programs that directly serve and benefit the public.
“At PCSO, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serve and support President Marcos’agenda of bringing essential services closer to the people, because helping them is both our mandate and our responsibility,” Robles said.
Among the beneficiaries of the PTVs are Bohol, Biliran, Cebu, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Negros Oriental and Siquijor as well as the Samar provinces.
The turnover follows a similar activity in Iloilo City on Wednesday, where nine PTVs were given to local governments of Antique, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.
To date, the PCSO has distributed a total of 1,731 PTVs to various provinces, cities, municipalities and state-run hospitals nationwide.
