MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) started filing charges against operators of colorum public utility vehicles (PUVs) in Caloocan earlier this week.
LTO-National Capital Region director Roque Versoza said the agency will continue its crackdown on owners of PUVs operating without permits and franchises from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
The crackdown can help legitimate transport operators, who said they are losing up to 30 percent of revenues to unauthorized vehicles, according to the LTO.
Versoza said the LTO is enforcing stricter regulations on penalties to ensure compliance with transportation laws and enhance road safety.
