BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Heavy rainfall and lightning strikes resulted in power outages in this city and Benguet on Monday.

The Benguet Electric Cooperative said its Feeders 7, 8, 9 and 10 went down, affecting two main breakers of Beneco’s substation here.

“We appeal to our member-consumer-owners who will remain without power today for patience and understanding,” Beneco general manager Melchor Licoben said. ”While we have restored electricity through diversion, there are areas that may still experience sporadic outages.”

Licoben called a meeting yesterday to assess and come up with measures to address the situation.

“We will try our very best to restore power today or at the latest tomorrow morning,” Ramel Rifani, Beneco network department manager, said.

Only two of the affected feeders were energized as of yesterday morning.
