Ronald Singson optimistic of another chance in House

VIGAN CITY , Philippines   â€“ Former Ilocos Sur congressman Ronald Singson is optimistic that his conviction for drug trafficking in Hong Kong will not affect his bid to return to Congress.

Singson, who was jailed in 2010 in Hong Kong for possessing cocaine and Valium, said his constituents are satisfied with his performance and his projects.

“For now, I don’t see any problem. I just focus on my campaign, I put everything behind me and whatever happened in the past, I already paid for it,” Singson said in an ambush interview last Saturday.

“They (constituents) have seen me work and I have a good track record. During my first time to serve as congressman, I have implemented several projects. We were able to help almost all barangays,” he added.

Singson said he is hoping that the people of Ilocos Sur’s first district will give him “another chance to serve.”

Singson belongs to the Nacionalista Party and is running against Bertrand Baterina of the Liberal Party.
