MANILA, Philippines — Even members of the business industry joined the Trillion Peso March against corruption on Sunday, September 21.

Top officials from the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) and Philippine Dealing System Holdings Corp. (PDS), and their staff, wore white shirts featuring their firms' logos in solidarity with calls to hold corrupt officials accountable.

Among them were PSE and PDS President Ramon Monzon and Chief Operating Officer Roel Refran, as seen in the photos posted by PSE itself on X.

Monzon also currently serves as the president of the PSE Foundation and a trustee of the Securities Investors Protection Fund Inc. Refran, meanwhile, also works at the Philippine Chamber of Commerce & Industry as chairman of the Capital Markets Development.

At least 30 individuals from PSE and PDS marched along EDSA toward the People Power Monument during the Trillion Peso March, carrying Philippine flags like other demonstrators. Others held placards reading, “End corruption now!” and “Lahat ng kurakot, managot! (All plunderers must be punished!).”

The PSE is the Philippines’ national stock exchange and self-regulatory organization, providing a market where stocks and securities of publicly listed companies are bought and sold. It connects companies seeking capital with potential investors.

Celebrities and artists also joined the protests at Luneta and EDSA, taking the stage to rally nearly 100,000 participants or leading chants on the streets themselves.

Protests on September 21 marked the 53rd anniversary of Martial Law and called for government accountability over billions lost to substandard and ghost projects, leaving Filipino families to face floods on their own.
