MANILA, Philippines — Candidates for the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) can file their certificates of candidacy (CoCs) from July 3 to 7, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

In the eight-page Resolution 10899 promulgated by the Comelec last Feb. 22, the calendar of activities for the Oct. 30 synchronized BSKE indicated that the election period would be from July 3 until Nov. 14.

The filing of CoCs will run for five days, starting July 3.

The campaign period, however, will only start three months after the filing of CoCs, or from Oct. 19 to 28.

During the election period, the poll body prohibits the bearing or carrying of firearms, use of security personnel, vote-buying and vote-selling, transfer of civil service employees and suspension of local elective officials.

Also banned are the selling, buying, serving and taking intoxicating liquor.

Campaigning will no longer be allowed on Oct. 29, the eve of election day.

On election day, Oct. 30, voting will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the counting and canvassing of votes.

The Comelec also declared Nov. 29 as the last day of filing Statements of Contributions and Expenditures or SOCEs.
