Dream Big, Bigasan Hub x CKBA crowned champions
CEBU, Philippines — Dream Big Basketball of Ormoc City and Bigasan Hub x CKBA of Consolacion, Cebu both completed a two-game sweep in the semifinal round to emerge as champions in the inaugural Visayas G Hoops powered by VISTECH at the Sacred Heart School-Jesuit old campus along General Maxilom Avenue in Cebu City recently.
Emmanuel Fortuna Jr. unloaded 16 points to lift Dream Big to a thrilling 53-50 win over RJN of Talisay City.
John Roldan Perez then fired 18 points as Dream Big downed the CIT-U Baby Wildcats, 54-48.
That was all the visiting Ormocanons needed to secure the 13 Under crown.
RJN settled for third after thrashing the Wildcats, 50-17, with John Peter Sabido leading the way with 12 points.
On the other hand,Kennie Jie Lugatiman and Charlie Daniel tallied an identical 12 markers as the Bigasan Hub x CKBA trounced the Abellana Chiefs, 79-57, and The Realtors, 90-77, to reign supreme in the Under 15 division.
The Realtors, fueled by 21 points from Raphy Pasaje, claimed the third-place trophy behind their 82-67 drubbing of the Abellana Chiefs.
In all, 24 teams saw action in the highly successful first edition of the grassroots tournament spearheaded by coach Rocky Alcoseba, SBP official Rey Cañete, and Australia-based league organizer Van Halen Parmis. — (FREEMAN)
