CEBU, Philippines — The red-hot ‘04 The Win Batch 2004 downed the 2K Core Pacific, 85-75, to stay undefeated in the Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 28 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles Arena in Barangay Canduman, Mandaue City.

With a perfect 8-0 record, Batch 2004 is already assured of a Top 2 finish in Division B regardless of the outcome of the its last two elimination assignments, giving the team an automatic semifinals entry.

Kyle Valmoria led Batch 2004 with 21 points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Gino Paolo Lopez added 18 markers,  Ervin Lopena submitted a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds with five assists and two steals, while Francis Dave Soria chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and two steals.

On the other hand, Elddie Cabahug dropped 29 points on top of five boards, two dimes and two steals while Daryle Tan dished out a dazzling double-double show of 24 points and 18 rebounds as the Insular Square Batch 2005 edged the Onses Batch 2011, 73-68, to stay at second place with a 7-1 win-loss card.

Gabe Branzuela scattered 21 points and 11 assists laced with six rebounds and as many steals while Jaspez Diaz pumped in 19 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and two blocks to power ZLREJ Trading Batch 2010 to an 89-39 blowout of 2kcares.org.

Charles Divinagracia contributed 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Joshua Belarmino donated 13 points, 15 rebounds and three steals for Batch 2010, which remained third with a 6-2 slate.

In other Division B results, Mikey Cabahug exploded for 29 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals as Subtero Batch 2006 evened its mark at 4-4 with a 68-60 triumph over Knoxsteel, while Reynald  Lim sizzled with 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Golden Dragons Batch 2012 upended the Magis Medical Fund, 64-54, for its third victory in eight games.

In Division C, the Xchange Forex Batch 2018 and the Imperial House of Furniture Batch 2015 continue to share the leadership with immaculate 5-0 slates.

Benedict Andre Chua nearly had a triple-double with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists, Xavier Tarriman scored 19 while Juliano Yusingco churned in 14 points and 11 rebounds to vault Batch 2015 to a 109-70 rout of Kaway Batch 2023.

Anton Bennett Chua also stole the show with 20 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals as Batch 2015 edged BYD Batch 2020, 64-59. Irvin Dwight Dumol was the other double-digit scorer for Batch 2015 with 14 points, four rebounds and an assist.

In other matches, UST’s Cebuano “King Tiger” Nic Cabañero delivered a scintillating 42-point show with 14 rebounds and three steals as FADI Batch 2021 improved to 3-2 with an 87-83 beating of Nest Workspaces Batch 2013, while Wilhelm Josh Go produced a monster double-double of 28 points and 21 rebounds as Kilat’i Refreshments Batch 2024 tamed Rufrance LPG Batch 2025, 109-98, for its only second win in five starts. — (FREEMAN)
