CEBU, Philippines — University of Cebu (UC) Chairman Atty. Augusto “Gus” Go was elected as the new president of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI).

The election took place during the CESAFI Board Meeting at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu recently.

Set to succeed fellow lawyer Paulino Yabao of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), Go will lead Cebu’s premier inter-school athletic league for two years together with Fr. Francisco Antonio “Kito” Estepa, SVD of the University of San Carlos (USC) as vice president, Dr. Dino Velez of Velez College as treasurer, and Fr. Randy Figuracion, SDB of the Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC)-Cebu as secretary.

It’s going to be an exciting times ahead for Go and the rest of the officers as the CESAFI girds for its silver anniversary celebration with a series of activities that will kick off with the cheerdance competition on September 10.

The fun run as well as the All Old-Stars exhibition game will be held the following day, September 11.

The September 12 date is reserved for the Awards Night of the CESAFI Hall of Famers at the Citadines Grand Ballroom in Baseline Center.

After which is the grand opening ceremony of CESAFI Season 25 on September 13 at the newly-renovated Cebu Coliseum.

“These events aim to celebrate the legacy of the CESAFI and honor the athletes, coaches, and school communities who have contributed to 25 years of inter-school excellence,” said longtime CESAFI commissioner Felix “Boy” Tiukinhoy, Jr.
